Jens Olof Lasthein
Born in Sweden in 1964, grew up in Denmark. After highschool working as a shipyard worker and a busdriver. Travels in Asia and Eastern Europe. Educated 1989-1992 at the Nordic Photo School in Stockholm, Sweden. Since then freelance photographer, living in Stockholm, working primarily with reportages and portraits for magazines and newspapers as well as self initiated projects. Represented by Silver Picture Agency, Stockholm. Occasionally working as lecturer and workshop leader at photo schools in Stockholm, Copenhagen and Minsk.
Major projects: Moments in between 1994-99 photographing before, during and after the wars in former Yugoslavia, an attempt to understand life in the shadow of war.
White Sea, Black Sea 2001-2007 travels along the eastern border of the european union, from Arkhangelsk in the north to Odessa in the south, exploring the transition of the borderland between eastern and western Europe
