He studied photography at Folkwang University in Essen, Germany. Since 1989 Stefan Dolfen has been working as a designer and photographer next to his freelance art projects. He is members of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie e.V. (DGPh).

Since 2010 Sabine Bungert and Stefan Dolfen are working on long term projects together. They are interes­ted in the development of societies due to social changes. Their work has been featured in several exhibitions.
